We are a group of professionals from the healthcare field that has been following and sharing for some time the latest advances in information and communication technologies. We were somewhat perplexed that the use of technological advances considered normal in other aspects of society is not the norm in the field of healthcare. There are apparently various aspects that prevent the implementation of the new ICTs in clinical practice.
Upon examining various options, we decided to constitute a non-profit professional association, under the name of Asociación Salud Digital. This association aims to be a plural meeting point, something that didn’t exist before in regard to Digital e-Health, in which we can fully express the present and future potential for our society of e-Health.
Citizens, patients or healthcare professionals constantly use digital devices to access and share information and to interact with each other. However, the development of digital health strategies in our country and in our immediate environment is still heterogeneous and it is far from the reaching the full potential granted by the current technology at our disposal.
This is why our group, which engages in everyday work in the social and healthcare fields, and also has a special focus on the digital environment, is willing to share our knowledge and experience to help accelerate the prevention of diseases and the promotion of healthcare lifestyles (along with the diagnostic and treatment of diseases) through an intensive use of increasingly available digital technologies.
We do not represent any outside agencies, only ourselves and our shared common aim. We invite anyone who shares our views and aims to join us.
Jaime del Barrio, President of the Association
